The foundation of TJShow was laid in 2006, when the first ideas about the program were formed. The first version of TJShow was built as a student research project and was released in 2006. Since then, the program has grown from a hobby project to a large software package. Since 2008, the software is also commercially available.

Tommy has a background in innovation sciences, specializing in innovations in the field of information technology. In 2006 he, started the TJShow project as a personal project. Until 2008, Joost Wijgers advised on particular design aspects of the TJShow software. He is a theater technology specialist, particularly in the field of show control. Joost is currently not associated with the TJShow project anymore.
